The decision to put any form of Learning
Management system in place for any
reason at all is a step and a journey, that
requires thought, planning and HELP.
We feel it is very important to have real life experience available to you
that can not only de-code "LMS-ease" but also help your organization
stay focused on WHY this is being done, and HOW your training goals
will be kept clearly in focus.
On the issue of learning management, one of the first things to think about is:
- How much you want to track?
- How much do you need to make things happen?
These are VERY different goals. If you need to track for proof of compliance for
example, or for any reason at all, you still need to manage the training priority and
presentation sequence to the learners. What you need to make happen in this
case is the tracking and proof of completion, perhaps even with ratings.
You may have a situation where you not only need to track, but you need to make
something happen in your training that is tied to the future of your organization.
This is beyond proving completion and increasing ratings, it has to do with
developing the organization and preparing for the future. In this case, things like:
career planning, succession planning, organizational development, leadership
and management training, all come into play and need to be monitored and
managed in a timely manner.
